Found a bug in TextEdit, not very harmful, but annoying. When one uses real tabs for indenting, cursor horizontal position displayed on the window titlebar counts TAB as single character, so column number is wrong.
Expected behaviour is to count TAB as number of characters set in preferences.
I also have a feature request for TextEdit: C++ syntax module.

Thank your - I wouldn't call it a bug but your request makes sense - I will try and see if I can figure something out
As for C++ I will have to think about it
